[Stoves] ETHOSV discussion

I expect that the faster a stove improves the economic status of a user, the faster the stove will sell. Environmental and health benefits, while very desirable, are too slow to reveal themselves and thus create demand. Improvements in social status would also help to increase the rate of diffusion/adoption.

With sufficient economic benefit to the user, a profit rent included in the cost of the stove would not be problem. If, however, the cost of the profit rent substantially delays the net positive economic benefit to the user, then it will be a problem.

In any case, a stoves ultimate adoption/diffusion will depend on very careful leveraging of the enduser's assets, in terms of both financial and human capital. It is clearly the case that there is insufficient will in the developed world to commit the resources required to get the job done.

Cheers,

Jock

In practical that would be centralized activity. Type of fuel was not mentioned at all. WB and MF are just interested in min 10-15 % profit at the activities they support. That’s why GACC need others advisers as well: From the stovers through ETHOS they will get everything about clean cooking stoves, from RS they will get everything about fuel and briquettes, from Crispin everything about emission, from Ron everything about biochar and from the whole group at the stove list, tyey will get: how to run decentralized stove projects; stoves, fuel and the cook in one unit in order to create clean cooking and income generating activities for the low income population, by utilize local resources manpower and local available energy resources.
