To share back with you..... my daughter, under my supervision and
motivation and inspiration from the work of Josh Kearns of Aqueous
Solutions.... is now finalizing their research as a secondary school
project on using bio char for water filters. We are using pili  (canarum
ovatum) shells, a native kind of nut that is very dense and has the perfect
shape to go into gasifier stoves. We harvested the char and constructed a
series of water filters.

We dropped Malathion into the distilled water passed it into the bio char
water filter and have the samples analyzed at the laboratory. The results
indicate that the set up has an effectivity of 99.9 %, that is from 4,600
plus micro grams of malathion per liter, what remains is 0.12 micrograms
per liter of the pesticide.

Will gladly share with you the summary of the final paper as soon as it is
ready.
