Anerobic Digestion whereby organic matter is placed in a warm sealed
vessel and microbes which thrive in the oxygen free atmosphere break
down the volatile solids, like lipids and sugars to give methane and
carbon dioxide leaving the fibres as a residue. The bugs are often
kick started by an inoculation of ruminant dung as they are the same
ones a ruminant uses to increase the digestibility of leafy material.
