The Energy and Environment Partnership announces opening of its 11th Call for Proposals for renewable energy and energy efficiency market creation projects

The Energy and Environment Partnership Southern and East Africa (EEP S&EA) is a challenge fund that promotes renewable energy, energy efficiency and clean technology investments. EEP S&EA is active in Botswana, Burundi, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

EEP S&EA is seeking high-quality applications for projects that can contribute to the reduction of poverty by improving energy security while mitigating global climate change.

The EEP S&EA Programme Window 2 – Market Creation – is now open for concept note applications.

The submission deadline is April 13th, 2015 at 10h00 South African time (GMT+2).

This 11th Call for Proposals is funding viable renewable energy and energy efficiency projects that are close to commercial maturity and have prospects for scale-up. Such projects must have at least completed the feasibility phase, and should meet the requirements outlined in the Concept Note Guidelines.

The maximum grant allocation can fall in the range € 200 000 - 1 000 000 depending on the level of verifiable project co-financing brought in by the project.

Applications are sought in two stages: 1) concept notes (current stage), based on which successfully ranked applicants are invited to submit 2) full project proposals.

Concept note applications will be screened in terms of key criteria, including of the following types: a) project or business idea b) capability of the applicant c) development impacts and climate change mitigations d) Scale-up/replication potential and/or potential to mobilize future investment and e) financial leverage (co-financing share).

Detailed information on this Call for Proposals, as well as the online application tool, can be found at the programme’s webpage at http://eepafrica.org/
