For those of you who are following the saga of Ecuador's elimination
of their LPG subsidy, after some 50 years, there is a very good
article in "El Universo", Guayaquil, Ecuador, today that explains many
of the same concerns that I have.

http://www.eluniverso.com/noticias/2015/03/15/nota/4658681/cambio-cocinas-pese-que-hidroelectricas-no-estan-listas

In the sixth paragraph, they quote a housewife from a rural district,
who explains that without gas and with the constant electric outages
she experiences, she will have to use wood or charcoal.

Also, in the first paragraph, they mention that it is anticipated that
a 15 kg tank of gas will sell for $15- $20, up from the subsidized
price of $1.60. Is this accurate pricing for the region? Is it
acceptable for the average consumer?
