We haven’t set the start time for Friday for ETHOS 2016 yet, but in the past we’ve started at 4pm. Here’s a schedule from the last ETHOS; we’ll likely follow a fairly similar format. Thanks for the endorsement, Ron!
Best,
Elisa

Lists:

This below announces a really good stoves meeting. Elisa Derby is new to the Presidency of ETHOS - and has a large new board that will be helping with the Abstract selection/placement process. Elisa has said the DoE stove contractors will be there. I am hoping for EPA as well.

There is an informal part that starts Friday afternoon (time unknown to me - but better to get there early, as there will be plenty of chance to talk with dozens of people on these two lists.)

This is not a biochar meeting, but there has been a growing percentage of talks on char-making stoves. (The next biochar meeting is in Corvallis - in the late summer)

The two-day price of $60 is phenomenally low (half that for students) - and the on-campus cafeteria is reasonably priced. Lots of coffee, etc included in the $60.

Elisa -

What time on Friday will activities begin?

Ron

Subject: ETHOS registration and abstract submission now officially launched!

Dear all,

ETHOS 2016 is officially launched! Please register<http://www.ethoscon.com/2016-registration/> and submit abstracts<http://www.ethoscon.com/ethos-2106-abstract-submission/> now at http://www.ethoscon.com<http://www.ethoscon.com/>!

Please note that registration is a 3 step process:
1. Register here: http://www.ethoscon.com/2016-registration/. One registration per individual, please—each person needs a separate registration. The registration form will ask you about your payment, and a voluntary donation, but you will need to actually process these payments separately.
2. Once your registration submission is confirmed, please return to the registration page or main ETHOS page to pay online. As always, you may pay in cash at the door, but it will be much easier for the ETHOS volunteers if as many participants as possible pay online ahead of time. Aaaaand, by paying in advance you will be entered into a drawing for fabulous prizes (legacy PCIA swag – aka historic cookstove collector’s items!).
3. Once your fee is submitted, please consider making a (separate) tax-deductible donation to the Mark Bryden Scholarship Fund to support one participant per year from a developing region (Africa/Asia/LAC) with direct field experience who would otherwise not be able to come. ETHOS will administer this scholarship fund. This is a great way for us to learn from successful implementers, and for them to be able to get feedback on their work from the ETHOS community!

If you’d like to present/speak at ETHOS, please submit a brief abstract (note the word limits on the form). Abstract submission is a 1 step process:
1. Fill out this form by Friday December 18th and submit! http://www.ethoscon.com/ethos-2106-abstract-submission/

ETHOS will be Friday January 29th – Sunday January 31st, 2016. As in past years, we have blocked rooms at the Baymont Inn in Kirkland, and Friday afternoon/evening activities will take place there. Saturday and Sunday sessions (starting early Sat am, and ending by 5pm on Sunday) will again be at Northwest University. See the logistics<http://www.ethoscon.com/ethos-2016-logistics/> page for more info! Now’s a good time to make your lodging reservations, too. You can find Baymont hotel information on the registration and logistics pages.

Looking forward to seeing you then!

Best,
Elisa
Your friendly neighborhood ETHOS President
