[Stoves] Having correctlness in NAMES Re: [biochar] Kon Tiki is Cool

Dear Char-Makers,
I agree with Kelpie's comments below about the name Kon Tiki referring
to a specific char-maker (or its immediate derivitives.).
I really like that the "Flame Cap" name accurately describes the generic
TYPE of char-maker.
In the same way, "Migratory Pyrolytic Front" (MPF) is the best brief
description of that is occurring in TLUD stoves.
Beware of the "trendy" tendency to use some acronym. ANY acronym
requires a translation or explanation. Just because "TLUD" has gained
(slowly) some acceptance since its inception in 2005 does not mean that
it is a natrual name. And ANY acronym tends to invite confusion. The
ESMAP reports (2014 and 2015) use the word "Loading" for the "L" which
actually stands for "Lit" (as in "ingnition", not placement of fuel).
Newcomers to stoves issues who only read one publication (excecutives,
politicians, etc.) will see the ESMAP wording and will unwittingly
repeat the error in their high circles. There is little that I or
anyone can do to counteract the error presented in a widely distributed
publication by a major organization. The fact that the GACC is a
co-sponsor of that publication reflects on inadequate proof-reading (or
worse). The fact that a prominent group of people authored that
publication indicates that their grasp of TLUD background is
deficient. Aprovecho is also guilty of misusing the TLUD acronymy, but
that report is not so widely read (except maybe by those who wrote the
ESMAP report?).
People should not be changing the TRANSLATION of an acronym. Example,
Intelligent Business Machines is NOT the same as IBM (the I is for
International). And a BLT sandwitch does not contain balogna,
liverwurst or turkey. And TGIF refers to Friday.
For that reason, I want to discourage Kelpie and others from repeatedly
putting forth some acromyms such as TFIG or TFOD or whatever, especially
because Flame Cap is a great name for the technology, and much more
memorable than a 4-word combination.
