Dear Cookstove Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce an upcoming technical capacity building workshop Measuring and understanding household stove use<http://www.pciaonline.org/content/registration-vietnam-measuring-and-understanding-household-stove-use-workshop>, sponsored by Winrock International and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), with technical support of Berkeley Air Monitoring Group. The workshop will take place in Hanoi, Vietnam from Monday, August 1st - Thursday, August 4th, 2016, and will be co-hosted by SNV Netherlands Development Organisation. The workshop will provide organizations with knowledge and skills to effectively assess and understand patterns of cookstove adoption and use.

Training will involve presentations, discussions, field practice, and hands-on exercises. Participants will learn about various qualitative and quantitative assessment methods for monitoring household stove use, including practical exercises on how to design, deploy, collect and analyze data from Stove Use Monitoring Systems (SUMS).

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  * Understand background and context for evaluating stove use/adoption.
  * Plan, develop and execute an informative, high-quality stove usage study.
  * Analyze and use the data collected at a project, program, company, and/or policy level.
  * Share knowledge with others working in this field to build capacity on a regional level.

Please review the following eligibility criteria for participation:

  * Be based in or currently working in Vietnam or SE Asia.
  * Be actively manufacturing and/or selling/disseminating improved stoves, or have specific plans to work directly with a stove implementing organization to conduct user research in the near future.
  * Be the person responsible for stove monitoring, consumer research, and/or testing within your organization.
  * Be willing to complete an organizational action plan, submit a workshop evaluation and complete a 4-month follow up report.

We want to emphasize that this is a hands-on workshop intended for organizations that directly implement stove programs in and around Vietnam, or those that provide regular support to stove implementers in the form of user research. Because space is limited, please be sure to register the appropriate representative from your organization. Participation is limited to one person per organization.

There is no cost to participate in the workshop. However, participants will be responsible for paying for their own travel costs, meals and lodging (as applicable). No sitting allowances/per diems will be provided for any participants.
