Here is the TLUD again with about an hour of its performance. 

 



CARITAS TJ3B single pot TLUD Coal Burner

 

High power burn time is about 4 hours, lowered it will run for 6-8 hrs
untouched.  It is going to be very popular as a room heater for overnight
because you don't have to attend to it.

 

I tried to adjust the primary air supply to see what happened. Because the
secondary air is fixed, the EA went up to 127% and the CO rose at the same
time. To be really clean it needs to have an EA value of about 50-75%. In
order to maintain that across a range of power it would be necessary to have
the primary and secondary adjust at the same time. 

 

Performance:  



 

For a short time, about 10 minutes, the CO/CO2 ratio dropped off the scale.

 



TJ3B TLUD burning coal from Kyrgyzstan.

Particle size 15-30mm; working diameter 210mm.

Bed depth 350mm.

Best performance: 50% excess air.

 

Outside body temperature: 443°C (Emissivity ε=0.93)
