Dear Crispin;

Thanks for the temperature ramp. Go slow, even though it is an open pore
matrix. A close pore matrix must take even longer.

Cheers,
Julien

Dear Julien

Quite reasonable plan. You could use peas or beans as a filler too.

Warning : you must not raise the temperature rapidly. If you know there is
a significant biomass content you have to ramp slowly. Else it will spall.

Ramp to 120C and hold for at least an hour. Ramp at 130 deg per hr to 600
and home for at least an hour. Then ramp at 250 per hr to final, hold for
30 minutes.

Then you can cool it at maybe 200 per hour, it depends on its thermal shock
resistance.

If it is really good, throw it hot into water and see if it survives. If it
is good it will survive five such immersions.
Really good ceramic can survive 1000 C into water repeatedly.

Regards
Crispin
