Subject: [Stoves] new Wonderwerk TLUD-ND design

All,

I built a new TLUD-ND stove including all that I learned at Aprovecho during my time there in March. Tonight I used it to cook dinner. The stove has full control of the power level from high (probably around 5 kw) to low (unknown at this time, probably around 1.5 kw). No smoke was produced during use except at transition to coals (because it was on a low power level, there is no smoke if it is on a medium to high power level). It is simple to control and a joy to cook on it.

Sandwiching a dead air space between a second sheet metal skin and the fuel chamber solved the creosote problem. It burned for over an hour on about 500 gm of pine pellets. Some soot on the pot, but only a little. I made burritos which tasted great, and then boiled .5 liter of water for tea. There is very little heat loss from the side of the stove, it is touchable in most locations.

I will be taking it to Aprovecho on Tuesday to test it under the hood. These are exciting times for me and the Apro. folks, to be so near the goal! Photos, drawings and performance details coming soon.

Kirk
