[Stoves] Off-topic, humor: Facebook and GACC

NYT had an item on 31 October 2016 - Facebook Could Be Associated With a
Longer Life, Study Finds
<http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/01/science/facebook-longer-life.html?_r=0>.

Kind of stuff GBD folks could do; BOD is for cohorts dead - to most of whom
they assign causes of death, only one per person (go figure), and then do
their um, estimations, to come up with risk factors.

But for those of us past 80, Facebook could be life-saving. After all, the
study was to be published in PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of
Sciences).

According to NYT, "It also points out that its findings represent a
correlative relationship as opposed to a causal one: There is no evidence
in the paper that using Facebook has any direct effect on a person’s
health."

Well. Who should take notice, WHO? :-)

Anybody interested in a "correlative relationship" between NIH/Gates
Foundation grants and averted DALYs, $ per $? (US statistical life is
estimated at $9 million; I don't know at what age).

Now, GACC page on Facebook <https://www.facebook.com/cookstoves/> has
10,462 "Total Page Likes" as of now. It reached a milestone of "5,000 fans"
in 2013.

Its most recent post
<http://cleancookstoves.org/about/news/11-02-2016-fighting-deforestation-with-cleaner-cookstoves-and-fuels.html?platform=hootsuite>
says, "Over 50% of all wood harvested worldwide is used as fuel, and an
estimated 30% of that wood fuel is unsustainable. Developing countries are
the main contributors, with up to 75% of wood fuel harvested used for
cooking, heating, and lighting."

GACC will live in perpetuity. So many trees and lives to save. The more,
the better, no? :-)
