“Estimates and 25-year trends of the global burden of disease attributable to ambient air pollution: an analysis of data from the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2015”

Interestingly, males were much more affected than females – 45% more.

“Age-standardised death and DALY rates due to exposure to PM2·5 were higher in males than females (table 1<javascript:void(0)>table 1), as a result of higher all-cause mortality rates in males (1018·6 per 100 000 males vs 703·4 per 100 000 females21<javascript:void(0);>”

All this of course refers to people who have already died, not people who will die in future from an as yet unknown suite of contributing causes.
