Firstly I do not have any formal qualifications let alone a Phd so I
think you may be confusing me with my younger brother Prof Malcolm
Heggie.

I have the cited graph  in a pamphlet "Charcoal Production a Handbook"
ISBN 1 899233 05 9

I think the full paper is:

Beall FC, Blankenhorn PR, Moore GR (1974) Carbonized wood—physical
properties and uses as an SEM preparation. Wood Sci 6:212–219

but for some reason I cannot get the full text out of Google Scholar
