Dear Friends of clean cookstoves,
The Indian National Energy Policy (NEP) is being revised, and until
Friday (India time probably) there is a window to submit comments, etc.
Concerning cookstoves, I have submitted a comment, below, asking that
TLUD gasifier stoves be included in the consideration of how to resolve
the cookstove problems. If anyone is inclined to send an email in
support of gasifier stoves, please send to the address provided:
rajnath-pc at gov.in
I am hopeful that supportive comments will be forthcoming from several
of you who are well informed about TLUD stoves, and also from others
including the advocates of LPG who have acknowledged that LPG will not
reach the poorest of the poor households, which could number in the tens
of millions of families in India.
Please note that success in India could lead to similarly successful
efforts in other countries. The main supporting document that I sent
can be read at www.juntosnfp.org/resources .
Thanks in advance.
Paul

Dear Sir,
I am writing to you regarding the Public Notice concerning the National
Energy Policy

> 3.

> finalised after wide
> consultations with the all the stakeholders and public at large.
> Through this notification on

My purpose in writing is to call your attention to, and request
consideration the TLUD (Top-Lit UpDraft) micro-gasifier cookstoves as an
extremely viable solution (or part of the total solution) to the
cookstove challenges that confront the people and
Government of India. TLUD (tee-lud) capabilities have been proven
successful in a pilot study in West Bengal, and an
enlarged (X 10) project is already underway.
TLUD stoves are gas-burning stoves that make their own gases from dry
biomass (wood,
agro-residues, dung, etc) for exceptionally clean cooking with very low
costs. TLUD stoves can benefit even the very poorest families
that are beyond the reach and financial resources of LPG stoves. In
fact, if properly implemented, the TLUD stoves can have
POSITIVE CASH FLOWS for the households, the communities, the states, and
the nation.
For a concise introduction, please read the attached document "TER
Project.....", which is also found at
www.juntosnfp.org/resources
NOW would be an excellent time for the National Energy Policy (NEP) to
include the TLUD gasifier stoves,
and for both direct and indirect support to be provided so that the
benefits can reach
millions of Indian households within the earliest timelines of the NEP.
As the author of that document and as the Executive Director of Juntos
NFP, I assure you of the fullest cooperation by
Juntos NFP, myself, and Moulindu Banerjee (project implementor) for the
TLUD potential to be utilized throughout India.
I look forward to assisting you to accomplish the goals of the NEP for
cookstoves and rural energy.
Sincerely,
Paul S. Anderson, PhD
Executive Director of Juntos NFP
