Anil:

I got paid about Rs 7 per page a couple of years ago from an Indian
non-print outlet and Rs 10 per page is about right for a print/digital
outlet like ET, so I won't grudge Faizal Singh his money. Fair-skinned
people are the new priests of do-good church with mean-well pretensions, so
it's appropriate they get the press.

But it is puzzling that two weeks after CCF 2017, two of the what I
consider five top business dailies in India - Mint, Business Standard,
Hindu Business Line and these two - publish long laudatory pieces on "clean
cooking" by a newbie (assuming it's the same Faizal Khan). He parrots GACC
claim "the Alliance is already on its way to achieve its goal of 100
million homes adopting clean and efficient cookstoves and fuels by 2020 set
by Hillary Clinton seven years ago. "

Mrs. Clinton couldn't care less about GACC; she hasn't uttered a word about
it in years.

Nor has Teri or CLEAN, two co-hosts of CCF 2017 said anything about it. See
www.teriin.in and http://thecleannetwork.org/index.aspx. That they have
nothing to say says a lot.

If at all, CLEAN India has called LPG a "daydream" for rural India. (Our PM
is a marketer of day-dreams, after all.) See Odisha to represent at Clean
Cooking Forum 2017

October 2017. I think Kirk Smith was to try to launch a study on electric
induction stoves in Odisha 2-3 years ago.

Maybe I was correct - mistakes were made, monies have been collected and
spent, imperial dinners and high promises have been served, let the poor
eat cake a la mode(l), and it's time to go home (or move GACC somewhere
else, deploying project staff to more responsible positions than what they
have had over the last five years: it's not like ISO TC-285 is going
anywhere anytime soon. Please spare EPA and UNF the shame.)

GACC website had this a week ago - 600+ Stakeholders, 57 countries: A
wrap-up of the Clean Cooking Forum 2017

which makes no claims about the gains from CCF 2017 other than what you
have told us so far.

And SE4All's New global effort launched to accelerate ending energy poverty
for the most marginalized

at
COP23 jumboree two days ago has GACC, SEWA, WLPGA, Ashden, Energia, UKAid,
EnDev, GLP, ESMAP. REN21, SEWA, and many others lining up to do ...
something, perhaps another sumptuous dinner.

After offering me a full refund of my registration fee for CCF 2017 if I
couldn't find anybody else to take my place, GACC hasn't refunded me a
penny, but I won't grudge contribution to a good cause of risking a mistake.

Oh, well. I have been berated and degraded for criticizing GACC, so I wish
it good luck.
