Is Clean Cooking A Lost Cause?
The short answer is of course not, but you wouldn't know it from big news story this month that's still echoing throughout the global clean cooking community. Headlined "Undercooked: An Expensive Push to Save Lives and Protect The Planet Falls Short, (https://www.propublica.org/article/cookstoves-push-to-protect-the-planet-falls-short?utm_source=Inyenyeri&utm_campaign=53015c1217-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_03_28_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_9d75a672b9-53015c1217-16027657) " the piece at ProPublica told us what we already know: Traditional biomass cooking is terrible for health and the planet, and LPG is cleaner, but too expensive for most people to use. It's a great reminder of just how important our work is, and what the potential could be.

Smoke, or smiles -- a simple choice
Happily for our customers, they don't have to choose between the expense of LPG or the smoke of charcoal. Sometimes our Fuel+Stove model can seem a little complicated, so we boiled it down to 17 seconds in this quick new video. The choices: old, dirty, and unhealthy. Or new, clean, and dignified. More Pellets On the Way
The biggest barrier to our growth isn't demand, it's having enough stoves and pellets for all the customers who want them. So we're happy to be installing this new pellet line at our current plant, which will allow us to triple our capacity and reach more customers.
Keep them happy,
and you keep them as customers
We are relentless about listening to and learning from our customers, and have made hundreds of changes large and small based on their feed back--here's our Customer Service Manager Sandrine Umutesi and CEO Eric Reynolds during a recent customer visit:

And the reward for that is we now have a business model that's inclusive and works well for them. How well? Check out this chart--it shows how many customers we still have six months after first signing up. Of all the 103 customers we signed up during the month of December, fully 99% are still a customer six months later.

This is a significant improvement over our previous retention rates, and it is in part due to newly improved stoves and increased charcoal prices.
Tweets of the Month
Twitter can be be a cesspool, but we love it for the chance it gives us to connect and learn from so many amazing people. And sometimes they're really generous in their compliments--here's two favorites from this month. Thanks for the feedback and helping us continually improve.
