I actually met someone in the UK recently who was enthusing about his own 
experiments with drying fruit and vegetables which would otherwise go to 
waste, but he used gas or electricity, and I pointed out to him that 
biomass might be a good alternative.  He was powdering his product, 
potentially creating a whole new market for totally new seasonings which 
potentially open up all sorts of new cooking possibilities, not to 
mention commercial processed food manufacture of course.  I can try and 
see if I can get more information if you might be interested?

It would seem that mutiple invention of what should be a viable and good 
idea is occuring, but as yet acceptance seems to be lagging behind.
