Growing our team, measuring how pellets fight climate change, and more

"A Fix For Africa's Silent Killer"
New York Times puts Inyenyeri on the front page
One week after their story about Inyenyeri ran on the cover of the US Sunday Business Section (https://inyenyeri.us17.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d311672b6454d8e46857e4e76&id=1064403691&e=a4db8f2240) , the New York Times put us truly front and center, with an A1-above-the-fold placement on the front page of their International edition. This focus on clean cooking is quite rare, and it's great to get this kind of attention.

Inyenyeri expands executive team, positions for significant Rwanda and international growth
Inyenyeri is making some significant staffing changes, as the company prepares for rapid growth to meet the 1M households target outlined in a recent MOU with the nationally-owned Rwanda Energy Group, on behalf of five Government of Rwanda ministries.

Under the changes, Claude Mansell will become the CEO of our Rwanda subsidiary company, with Jan De Graff becoming Senior VP of Operations and Claudia Muench joining the company as VP of Finance. (Complete details are available in this press release (https://inyenyeri.us17.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d311672b6454d8e46857e4e76&id=81c3880c25&e=a4db8f2240) ).
Eric Reynolds, company founder and current CEO, will remain Executive Chairman of the company's Board of Directors, and CEO of Inyenyeri's parent company, where he will increase his focus on international growth and franchise development in new countries.

The MOU between Inyenyeri and REG (https://inyenyeri.us17.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d311672b6454d8e46857e4e76&id=b60873bf46&e=a4db8f2240) targets reaching one million households by 2024, and we're now working with Ministerial staff to put those commitments into actionable form.

Inyenyeri's pioneering tool for fighting climate change adopted by United National Framework Convention on Climate Change ( UNFCCC)
The UNFCCC has f (https://inyenyeri.us17.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d311672b6454d8e46857e4e76&id=73d46a8af2&e=a4db8f2240) ormally adopted a Program of Activities (POA) proposed by Inyenyeri (https://inyenyeri.us17.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d311672b6454d8e46857e4e76&id=de129609d1&e=a4db8f2240) , wherein our pellet sales are accepted as an accurate way to measure C02 reductions. This innovative approach, several years in development, means we have an internationally accepted standard to validate our contributions to the fight against climate change.

Under this POA, when we sign up customers we register the number of people in the house, as well as their prior method of cooking, be it charcoal or sticks. Then, using an approved formula, we can precisely calculate the volume of CO2 emissions being avoided, using the pellets sold as the key variable. No other company has developed a methodology like this, and it will prove incredibly valuable as we continue to grow, by allowing us to quickly and reliably calculate our impact on climate change. Kudos to our own Ephrem Rukundo and Xaver Kitzinger from Bridgebuilders (https://inyenyeri.us17.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d311672b6454d8e46857e4e76&id=8f88282b25&e=a4db8f2240) on the hard work getting this done.

"alternative biomass fuel models like Inyenyeri’s hold tremendous promise for sub-Saharan Africa "
The POA mentioned above is a key component of our carbon finance agreement with the World Bank, which they highlighted on their website and through their social media channels this month. "We deeply value our partnership with them," said Eric Reynolds, CEO. "The World Bank has been a key visionary partner in helping grow this innovative business model."

Inyenyeri sets another customer record
Inyenyeri has continued to add customers at a steady clip, and should end the month of January with almost 6,000 customers, up from 2,200 last January. Some of the fastest growth is taking place at the Kigeme Refugee Camp, where we are closing in on half of all households being customers. One noteworthy statistic from Kigeme stands out: our lifetime retention rate for customers at Kigeme stands at an eye popping 99%! We expect later this year to reach almost 100% of households in Kigeme, which would make it the first refugee camp anywhere in the world to completely transition from wood and charcoal to a cleaner alternative.
