Ron,

The newly formed Pacific Island Biochar Association is very versatile. They
have been making biochar and charcoal products including soaps, great
coffee, coffee liquor ("Tanna Lua" as in Kalua from the island of Tanna)
etc.

They are likely making biochar in a variety of devices including charcoal
making stoves.

They are well advised by Ruy Anaya who managed the very successful Biochar
for Sustainable Soils (B4SS) project. You can find some great videos of
that project on their website and on the webinar that Ruy presented for IBI.

Tom:

Since I believe your Australian conference was a biochar
conference, I hope a few of the answers were that charcoal-making stoves are
to be much preferred over charcoal-using stoves - especially in Vanuatu.

At a conference in Australia last week delegates from Vanuatu asked for
clean burning charcoal stoves. What charcoal stoves would you recommend for
a marine environment?
