[Stoves] Invitation to join off-list dialog on a different type of TLUD

Dear Gustavo

I love your work. Tell me: in the back two corners of the stove top there are two sort of dead zones where the gases do not pass. Can the surface be used on top to warm water instead of boiling?

It looks as if that might be a good function for that part(s).

Regards
Crispin in a far place (Potchefstroom)

Hi all, this is Gustavo from El Salvador, I´m working in a pilot program to build 10 Bambu houses, every house must be sustainable, including the stove, is going to have TLUD boiler and 2 burner stove.

see the attached file of my drawing. I have been working on TLUD with Paul Anderson for the last 6 years and I have leraned some of the principals to design gasifier stoves.

Best regards to everyone.

I have been thinking for about a week on how to make a “better” TLUD. I have a scheme in mind that has these features:

                - should be able to take over a larger percentage of cooking and heating tasks than presently available commercial TLUD models. (for one, more than one cooking port)
                - should be lower cost than the usual TLUDs - by virtue of local manufacture and assembly (following work of Kevin McLean)
                - would separate the chimney from the pyrolysis chamber (taller, and some horizontal flow paths - also reported by Kevin)
                - would emphasize annual costs and income - not first costs (an investment - not a cost)
                - is amenable to biochar use of more produced char (my primary motivation)
                - more ideas not listed here - all assuming open source use by anyone; no patents intended.

Anyone want to be part of this off-list, few-week dialog? (Trying to avoid mis-statements; I have not yet finished a draft that is already too long).

         Replies requested off-list.

Ron
