Launched in December 2020, RISE 2020: Sustaining the Momentum<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Frise.esmap.org%2F&data=04%7C01%7C%7C86e10c25d98042262b6308d8d8e0885d%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637497806156182102%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=ov68zsyolXyvjLE3gSe8xXUr1YsErvLdyvsoqv7sVe8%3D&reserved=0>, the third edition of the Regulatory Indicators for Sustainable Energy (RISE) report, measures policy progress in 138 countries on renewable energy, energy efficiency, electricity access, and access to clean cooking.
Clean cooking has been transformed from a pilot into a main pillar. Deficits in access to clean cooking, the most overlooked part of the sustainable energy agenda, affect 2.8 billion people worldwide.
The RISE clean cooking pillar covers 55 countries that account for more than 93 percent of the countries with low access scores. Four indicators measure the pillar's policy frameworks: planning, inclusiveness, standards and labelling, and incentives to increase uptake.
Policy plays a critical role for building an enabling environment for clean cooking market development. RISE is an important tool for policymakers to compare national policy frameworks for sustainable energy and identify opportunities to attract investment.
The webinar provided an in-depth, comprehensive understanding of the RISE 2020 clean cooking pillar and discussed opportunities for using the data and key findings generated from the report.
