The stove will be lit by building a top lit up draft fire in the
twin walled 'combustion chamber' part of the stove (B). Secondary
air flows (and possibly primary?) in through these twin walls so
that it is warmed before it enters the stove. Valves are fitted to
regulate both primary and secondary airflow. Much of the twin
walled area is filled with rock wool to insulate the combustion
chamber.

The fuel hopper (A) will be pre filled ready to take heat (and
begin ignition) from the fire started in B.
<br>
The gas flows up from the fire and through the 'Bleed Hole'
(3cmx3cm) into the insulated chimney pipe where the heat increases
the draught. As the fire starts to catch the bleed hole becomes
insufficient for all the gases to pass into the chimney so much of
it instead flows down past the heat exchanger.

The bottom of A will be a grate to let the ash fall down into an
airtight ash pan.
<br>
The bottom of B will be sloped (more steeply than shown) so that
ash from the initial lighting falls back through the throat into
the ash pan.

I'm thinking that the throat wants to be at least 10x10 and
positioned in the middle of the wall between A and B

The doors into A and B will both have small windows to view the
burn. Air will be jetted over them to keep them clean.

Is a cooking hatch necessary? Does it provide much more cooking
efficiency? (if included maybe just have window into B without
door)

I'm actually planning on having an L shaped stove (looking from
above) Part A (20cmx30cm) will be alongside B (20cmx20cm).

The whole of the back of the stove will be 20x10

I guess it will improve draught to insulate the part of the stove
below the chimney stack. (except where the heat exchanger is
positioned)

Height from bottom of throat to top of stove 60cm.

Chimney 9cm diameter insulated - how long from top of stove???
Would two 45' bends (to kick the chimney across about 30cm) make
much difference to the draught?

I'm going to design the air inlet(s?) so a fan(s) can be added if
necessary.

Do I need to make special considerations for the throat to stop
the metal burning away? Use other material (fire brick?), thicker
metal?
