Do you know <b>Ranju Pandey</b> of PEEDA, the "People, Energy and
Environment Development Association" in Kathmandu?<br>
It looks like Ranju is using the non edible oil from Jatropha plants for
bio-oil (for runing the Hospital Generator) and is also looking at <b>using the
used seed cake to make briquettes</b> for use as <b>fuel for cooking</b>...<br>
Your projects likely have a very close synergy with his~.<br>
<br>
If Ranju has figured out a way to make (small) briquettes [or pellets?]
from the Jatropha seed cake, then they can probably be used a "fuel"
for the Boichar-making TLUD stoves that you would like to introduce to the
rural farmers.<br>
<br>
I am thinking that perhaps there is way to make cheap briquettes using a
technique that is being used in Bangladesh.<br>
I met a gentleman online recently who makes and Sells <b>rice husk briquettes</b>
in Bangaldesh, and I was thinking that perhaps his system [which I would expect
would be rather inexpensive] could be adapted to Jatropha seed cake in Nepal.
[?]<br>
(His system produces "extruded" briquettes about 5cm across,
so I'm not certain that they would be useful... but if the briquettes are
broken up into smaller pieces, then perhaps...)<br>
