Next morning, took the house apart!</div><div>They love crevices of any kind and can be found hidden in bedding, under mattresses, floor/ base boards etc. In our neck of the woods, pack rats provide the perfect kissing bug primary residence. If smoke plays a part in keeping people healthy this needs to be kept in mind in those countries. In other places smoke is definitely only implicated in illness, not health, but the situation you described is similar to the experiences of Cecil Cook living with the Nambiquara in Brazil.
