It is called SANS 666. Ethanol Gel fuel is covered by SANS 448. There are quite a number of safety tests conducted.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Some features:<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The power has to be above 1 kW thermal output<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The net thermal efficiency has to be above 22.7%<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The CO/CO2 ratio (a measure of combustion efficiency) has to be below 2% at high power<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>It must not be able to be refuelled when burning<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>It must has a flame regulator<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>There is a topple-over test involving a 10 degree tilt with a 225mm diameter pot containing 3 litres of water on the stove, tilted in 4 directions 90 degrees apart, and repeated with no pot and an empty fuel tank<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Surfaces that need to be touched when operating and adjusting it must not exceed 42 degrees C<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>It most not have any sharp edges<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>If the flamer controller is set to OFF it must not automatically relight if set to ON after 5 seconds.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>There are durability and strength tests as well.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>This standard is based on the paraffin stove standards for pressure and non-pressure appliances and heaters: SANS 1243 and SANS 1906 respectively.
