The majority of stoves have been swapped for very much cleaner burning ones and the impact is dramatic.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Usually in November the city air has between 500 and 4000 µg of PM2.5<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>If you visit <a href="https://twitter.com/UB_Air">https://twitter.com/UB_Air</a> you can see Prof Lodoysamba’s twitter feed which Tweets the number every 3 hours, every alternate day. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Garamond","serif";color:black;mso-fareast-language:EN-CA'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal>It has almost reached 600 but that is a far cry from two years ago.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>There is a (slightly misleading) article from the Guardian at <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/oct/20/ulan-bator-killer-winter-stoves">http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/oct/20/ulan-bator-killer-winter-stoves</a> which discusses the air quality issue.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>It says the rise in patients with respiratory illnesses from 2004-2008 is deteriorating air but it is far more likely to be the huge increase in population – the air was the same from 2004-2008. The population went from 400k to 1.2m in 15 years. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Anyway, publicity is not wrong when it comes to cleaner air!<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Note the feedback from consumers. The photo is of one of the ‘approved’ new stoves. It is a TLUD with controllable secondary and primary air. Note the very large ring that can be removed to accommodate huge woks.
