<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Kirk,</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>I agree.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>I usually introduce the concept with a single can. Then add a stack
can to show the difference. It is quite easy to make a single can stove
with a rock and a nail.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>I also start beginners with much surplus primary air to insure success.
No failures for the first time you make a small TLUD. Then I
start to introduce the idea of approaching limits to get down to an amount of
primary air that will sustain pyrolysis, especially in the early phases when
it is just getting established. Primary air will effect quantity and quality
of charcoal harvested, amount of ash, quality of stack gas etc.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>The idea in the current PDF is to show that you can go from a single can
to a more advanced set of solutions. I also want to show that the
orthodoxy around concentrator rings is no more than one option, and not
necessarily the best. </DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Thanks,</DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>I like the trash can idea for all your reasons
but especially for safety when working with a group of children. The
stove has some inovative thinking in it but perhaps the inovations add
more complixity then is needed to communicate the basic wood gas principles
to children. Dr. Paul Andersons granddaughter had a wonderful little
stove at stove camp that was simpler and may more clearly communicate the
principles. </FONT><FONT size=2 face=Arial> It worked well with
many different fuels and achieved excelent numbers when tested.
Perhaps she would be willing to share her design with us. Once the
children understand the basic principles then they can learn from your stove
how to inovate new designs.</FONT></DIV>
