First I thank Michael Trevor for supplying most of the answers to
you quesitons (and for the kind endorsement!!).<br>
<br>
Your heat needs are SOOOOO small that the amount of wood would
very quite inconsequential. Depending on your situation, I
suspect that one woodworking shop could create sufficient COARSE
shavings (such as from a planer) from wonderfully dry wood. We
are talking about a small sack of good shavings (or wood chips or
twig segments or splinters) being sufficient for a month of
shrinking the plastic tubing (estimate, because it depends on many
factors).<br>
<br>
The TLUD would be make from tin cans. No need to have a tinsmith
make the TLUD for you from sheet metal. <br>
<br>
The only place I wrote about this is in a 2010 presentation for
the informal ETHOS presentations on Friday evening before the
conference. The item is called "From Willie to Richard"
And you are interested in Willie , which is Willie
One-Can (as in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory). Also
the Toucan TLUD (two can) by Hugh McLaughlin is shown.
Also there are comments about stoves made with 3 though 10 cans.
Richard Boyd made the 10-can stove. I hope that everyone enjoys
that presentation!!! <span class="moz-smiley-s1"><span>:-)</span></span><span

(and soon to be on the drtlud.com website)<br>
<br>
The Willie One-Can could be a serious heat device for your needs,
Deniz. Or maybe with 2 or 3 cans. I will work with you.
Maybe some others would like to join us on the practical sides of
this topic.<br>
<br>
So if you want to start, the first question is about what sizes of
tin cans you can obtain? You will only need 1 or 2 of each.
But the sizes are important (diameter and height). Assuming that
one end of each can is still closed.<br>

<div text="#000000" bgcolor="#FFFFFF">Dear Deniz,<br>
<br>
You have asked the correct group for advice.
There are several options that you could
consider.<br>
<br>
I will advocate that you consider a very small
TLUD (tee-lud) micro-gasifier, and I will assist
you if you desire that type of heat source.<br>
<br>
Please see my website <a
moz-do-not-send="true"
class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated"
href="http://www.drtlud.com/">www.drtlud.com</a>
for the basics about the technology, but very
little about units that are as small as you will
desire (but I can assist you about the very
small ones.)<br>
<br>
HOWEVER, these stoves do NOT use charcoal.
(actually they make charcoal, but that is a
different side of the story). Charcoal is
notoriously slow to ignite, which is one of your
requirements.<br>
<br>
I assume that you have already considered using
a candle (or a few candles). The very small
TLUD micro-gasifiers can provide the amount of
heat you need. They are very clean burning
even at cookstove sizes, so the tiny TLUD that
you need COULD probably be used indoors (depends
on room size and ventilation issues).<br>
<br>
Looking forward to assisting you. You may
reply via the Stoves Listserv because some
readers are interested in such topics, but
eventually for detailled work we would use my
personal email address which is <a
