(as Tom observed, "There is no mention of protocols or comparisons among fuels. What is being used to represent “wood” smoke?") </div><div><br></div><div>As Nikhil observed, we don't really need--at this point--to make either the health or market case for LPG. </div><div><br></div><div>InStove is a bit player in a niche industry, providing institutional rocket stoves to a relatively small percentage of those who cook with biomass. What I would like to know, specifically, from you experts, is a double-down on the original question: </div><div><br></div><div>What would you do with $30.5 million? </div><div><br></div><div>Christa, Nikhil, Tom, Crispin, Todd, Paul...friends and colleagues. I've written to all three professors leading the research, and I've also organized a call with a friend who just retired from Gates--one who told me a few weeks ago that Gates was not ready to fund cookstoves, and has been caught just as surprised by this as I was. Perhaps the plan is to first prove that switching from solid biomass fuel to LPG will save lives and then more money will become available to supply LPG. But it might be cheaper to prove a small solar powered fan will do as much and in the long run cheaper to supply these - or some like technology. Supplying LPG is ongoing. Supply a fan is once a year(?).
