From my perspective as owner of the Eco-Kalan Project, Youth for Peace associations, as offshoots of the Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) program of the Philippine Army, have the potential to benefit poor communities throughout the Philippines. </span></p><p style="margin: 0px;" data-mce-style="margin: 0px;"><span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Roboto; font-size: 13pt;" data-mce-style="color: #333333; font-family: Roboto; font-size: 13pt;"><br data-mce-bogus="1"></span></p><p style="margin: 0px;" data-mce-style="margin: 0px;"><span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Roboto; font-size: 13pt;" data-mce-style="color: #333333; font-family: Roboto; font-size: 13pt;">The Filipino youth comprise 28% of the population in the Philippines. Some of them drop out of school; are involved in criminalities and vices; and are recruited by insurgents against the Philippine government. Through the YLS training/seminars, youths are nurtured to become responsible leaders of character, responsible citizens and advocates of the government's peace and development initiatives.</span></p><p style="margin: 0px;" data-mce-style="margin: 0px;"><span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Roboto; font-size: 13pt;" data-mce-style="color: #333333; font-family: Roboto; font-size: 13pt;"><br data-mce-bogus="1"></span></p><p style="margin: 0px;" data-mce-style="margin: 0px;"><span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Roboto; font-size: 13pt;" data-mce-style="color: #333333; font-family: Roboto; font-size: 13pt;"> The youths in this video are enthusiastic, highly motivated and happy in what they are doing.
