<p>This stove was designed for backpacking, and would work for such
a situation. It has been on this list before. It is cheap,
portable, and easy to make using a single food can. It works well
and is easy on fuel use.<br>

I suggest Kevin’s recent promotion of a small hole in the middle of a traditional 3-stone fire. Stacking is non-standard and importan.
The resulting char should be especially helpful in the fields.
