Good Morning all,

I would like to reply to Mike Barnett of Jamaica.

I am thinking about a batch dry digestion system to get rid of your
problem. First, you may need a vast sheet of plastic to cover the oily seed
cake pile. Please add some extra volume of the cover to store the belched
gas. Second, you may need some amount of starter/digestate to ignite the
process. Third, you may need to add some N-rich substrate to balance the
system (e.g. urine, poultry dropping, seaweed).

You don't have to put this pile into your existing digester. Just make
another simple batch digester to control the digestion. It is much better
than letting the AD process started uncontrolled in the pile like in the
landfills. In fact, you can also control the odor of the pile this way too.

That is just a rough idea. Happy digesting!
