Dear Phillip Manske and all:
Helena Chum at the National Renewable Energy Lab did tests on pyrolysis oil as a fuel around 2000.
It's a LOMG way from diesel. Typically it contains 20-40% water. It can't be distiller because it is full of free radicals which polymerize it when heated.
