      I have heard that DOE is still funding work to make pyroil usable. 
Costs more to do so than it is worth.

Helena Chum at the National Renewable Energy Lab did tests on pyrolysis 
oil as a fuel around 2000.

It's a LOMG way from diesel.  Typically it contains 20-40% water.  It 
can't be distiller because it is full of free radicals which polymerize 
it when heated.

Good luck.  I hope you can conquer these problems...
