This is a bit off-topic, but we had looked at the "iris" mechanism as an
adjustable restriction zone. The idea being the gasifier could adapt to fit
the gas output demands...i.e. it could act like a big gasifier, or a small

I haven't seen any plans on how to build one, but for starters, if you had 
an old camera, ready for discard, you could take it apart carefully, to see 
the principles of operation.
