[Gasification] Cost and Performance of Small Scale Gasifiers

As you now the IEA country reports are good but they often focus on the
technical aspects of the research projects rather than the private
installations. In the past VTT in Finland has published some very good
catalogues of biomass equipment including gasifiers. Publications like that
could be used as a starting point for a techno-economic brief, using
operating systems to characterize cost and performance.

As an example the recently announced All Power Labs 25kWe Power Pallet made
for European grid service was undoubtedly inspired by the success of the
German gasifiers. Someone looking at the system will want to know something
of the background of the unit. I don't think there is a resource besides the
APL website that describes their system or points to existing installations
and they have sold a few hundred.

Dear Tom, as mentioned, there are plenty of small scale wood combustion
plants around the world. There is a heat demand, no doubt. There is a market
for small scale gasifiers to replace old boilers or customers considering
buying a boiler, but someone needs to introduce them, like happening in
Germany. And I fully agree that a database system would be useful of
operational plants. The IEA would be a good starting point.
