There are/were a number of companies that are/were using bacteria of some sort (I am a layman in this area) to convert CO2 to carbon chains of some sort, one being ethanol. Joule comes to mind. There are also pathways using CO (this is where gasification interest arises) to produce ethanol. Rex Zietsman
