[Gasification] Getting both heat and char .....

Hi Rolf, Paul and Colleagues,

Hopefully this drawing will come through OK, but my drafting days are over
when it comes to pen and ink drawing! Not Scandinavian high tech, but it's
cheap and you can build this in a couple of days.

Because I have no idea of what brick sizes may be available from recycling,
I can only present the kiln concept, bearing in mind that it can be round if
that better suits the materials obtained. The key to using gas like we
intend to use, is that it needs the refractory surfaces to create the
radiative heating.

1. The gas enters the combustion chamber right low to the floor layer of
brick, and blasts onto a target brick/s to split the flow around the central
core and stack of test tiles.

2. Bricks standing on end in the combustion chamber have a layer of brick
on top, set out to form a grill/grid lattice on which the test tile stack
is supported. (we don't know if the base of the tile stack needs a blank
flat area).

3. The gas exits at the top through the centre of a removable cover, the
hole can be reduced if necessary by placing a brick over part of the hole.

4. The lid cover might have to be made from refractory cement, or a metal
clamp band be used to hold bricks together. That could end up quite heavy.

See how that fits in with what you can do without many $$.

Rolf,

Good update. I hope Pilar is back on target soon.

I cannot help much with the kiln, but I would recommend simple with
firebrick contained inside of a layer of metal or other fire bricks. For
me, it is the "target" into which the hot flame is sent.

I will assist you about a version of the Dasifier. I will try to
reestablish contact with Agua Das himself.

We are now in a preparation stage, then an experimental unit, and then
something potentially useful, maybe for Pilar's process.
