I was going to say : "If you're inhaling objects when laughing hard, then
I think that perhaps you're doing it improperly".
ie Laughing hard is typically an exhalation-type exercise. ie "HA! HA!
HA!!!" or "HO! HO! HO!" or "He-e-eEEE! HEE! HEE!!!" etc.
But then I was reminded of a big goofy-looking Englishman who was a
gentleman dairy farmer in my old neighbourhood near Ayr-Paris.
When he laughed hard, he'd be standing there with his mouth gaping wide
open and his left arm would be swinging sideways up and down, slapping the
side of his thigh with his fisted hand ... but not a sound would be
emanating from his gaping mouth.
When I and my colleagues first witnessed this peculiar (to us) sight, we
were concerned that the fellow might have been experiencing some sort of
health issue, a seizure of some sort, that he was in danger.
It just occurred to me now why there was no sound.
The Englishman must have been an "Inhale Laugher" like Douglas.
And it appears that my and my colleagues' concerns about danger to health
were not misplaced.
As Douglas can attest, Inhale Laughers are apparently prone to hoovering
up foreign objects into their respiratory tracts ... and that's not a Good
Thing.
