What he doesn't mention is that underlying this nonsense is the premise not
just of LEED but of the frame of mind that gave us energy efficiency: *
more efficient per X*, rather than *uses less energy*.

Setting this up so we can always fiddle with the denominator, compare to
'standard new house,' etc., is toxic when it comes to making real,
meaningful progress.
