You could use 5" Timberloks to sister new 2x4s to the existing rafters the hard way, making 2x7s.
Or, scab 1x 8s, 5/4x8, 2x8s to their sides,. I'm assuming that you want the finished 
depth to be 8". When you do this, you can pick out bent lumber to push back the sags of time.
