Hi, Stephen—

Solplan Review was a unique and valuable resource, that reported news about design and construction innovations, and connected people with mutual interests. I really found it helpfu and educational. Richard deserves honors for publishing it. Thanks so much for digitizing the archive, it will continue to inform new users.

Best,

Mike O'Brien

Hello everyone,

I hope this email finds you and yours safe and healthy.

For those of you who are Canadian on this list and have been around long enough, you will remember the Solplan Review magazine. Published for 30 years by Richard Kadulski out of North Vancouver, it was the way Canadian residential building nerds stayed in touch with what was going on before the internet. Richard retired the magazine in 2015 and I ended up digitizing all 179 issues and posting them to Internet Archive. Below is the letter I have sent out. I do have a press release, which will be scrubbed on this list, so I’m not bothering to add it. For those who have some other networks who know and appreciate this magazine, please share, and let me know and I can send the release directly. For those who didn’t know the magazine, there is much here that is ever green. If you are stuck at home and want to read some awesome content, click away!

On behalf of Richard Kadulski and myself I am very pleased to announce that the Solplan Reviews are officially digitized and online now for all!!! You can find the entire 30 years of issues, all 179 of them here: https://archive.org/details/solplan-review <https://archive.org/details/solplan-review>

I am hoping that with the situation we are all in, that a little good news could really go a long way right now. I think everyone who may be stuck at home could benefit from being able to spend time learning and reading about the amazing things the Canadian building industry (builders, designers, researchers, gov’t, manufacturers, etc) has done over the last few decades. Much of the knowledge in these magazines is evergreen and very much worth people’s time reviewing. I know I learned a tremendous amount while digitizing and uploading all of these issues. It was a labour of love, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have spent time with these national treasures.

Please share this with everyone you know on your mailing lists please. Let us spread the word that Richard’s amazing work is still available right now to enjoy!

The press release is attached below. If you require any more information, please reach out to Richard or myself at any time.

Thank you all and take care of yourselves.

Cheers

Stephen
