I am actually working on a biogas stove for our training facility here in
Jamaica.
The info you provided is spot on, I have acquired the burners and will try
to adjust same to work. 
 
Your description will help me a lot to make some simpler burners.

Has anyone ever used Biogas in one of the "mantle" type burners for light,
and can anyone comment on the effectiveness, and longetivity of same?

Mike, Hello,

I have added a page on biogas burner design to the Biogas Wikispace. It
includes a paper that I wrote on how to design a burner, which I wrote for a
a group involved in making biogas burners in Africa. Ainea Kimaro used these
equations in a project run by KIST in Rwanda (see the Ashden Awards report)
and made a burner design that works well.
