Thinking is generally good...

There has been a lot of work done on wastewater from paper processing,
and relatively little-- as far as I have found-- about paper per se.
But there are some references, particularly given that most paper is
mostly cellulose:

Fermentation Products of Cellulose [by the venerable Buswell]
Effect of Waste Paper on Biogas Production from Co-digestion of
Cow Dung and Water Hyacinth in Batch Reactors
Enhancement of solubilization rate of cellulose in anaerobic
    digestion and its drawbacks
Pilot-Scale Fermentation of Office Paper and Chicken Manure to
Carboxylic Acids [a thesis from Texas A&M]
Some Factors Affecting Cellulose Digestion by Rumen Microorganisms
in vitro ["vegetable parchment" was used as cellulose source]

But of course BMP may be measured for "paper" or cellulose, but it
will depend on so many factors that can easily differ-- among them the
ecology of the test digester and the specifics of the paper used--
that it is best to do one's own batch studies.

Just by the way, I think the Buswell study, from 1929, is particularly
interesting because it shows a rather large underground digester
(large for a test digester-- 9 ft deep, ~8 ft across) that has several
characteristics similar to today's most widely used underground
masonry village digesters. It may therefore be considered to be among
the first if not the first precursor to those digesters.
