[Digestion] Biogas meter

Hi Freddy,

I suppose you could measure temperature and pressure and correct your recorded figures?

I have not used diaphragm meters, I have heard they do not last long but then I have seen some being used for months if not years with a silica gel column fitted upstream of the meter. They are pretty cheap too and sometimes available with digital outputs for online measurement.

Subject: [Digestion] Biogas meter

Hi there,

My name is Freddy Witarsa and I am a student at University of Maryland in the US. We are currently building biodigesters and I am designing the gas collection system. I have a question regarding the biogas meters that could be used for measuring the amount of biogas produced. Currently, we have a chinese model meter JBD2.5-SA. We are hesitant to use it because it is not temperature and pressure compensated. Does anyone have any good suggestions for low-flow gas meter that is pressure and temperature compensated?

Also, diaphragm meters seems to be ideal for low-flow gas measurement, but I believe it is not ideal for biogas because of the biogas moisture content, which could lead to corrosion of the meter. Does anyone know of diaphragm meters that are built specially for biogas (i.e. with stainless steel etc.)?

Thank you very much for your help.

Freddy Witarsa
