[Digestion] Fwd: After the Tank - pathogens

We recently installed a biogas plant for a veterinary hospital in Mumbai.
Dung of all animals being treated there goes into this biogas plant. I In
the decade of 1980 I used to work in a firm that used to make animal feed
and they had a number of animals which served as test animals for the the
new formulations being developed there. In this laboratory too, the fecal
matter of the animals went into a biogas plant. I think that the effluent
slurry in both cases is let into the city's sewerage system. Nobody told me
of any special precaution being taken to remove the pathogens from the
effluent.
