[Gasification] pre mixed boiler secrets?

My father in law did some of the early work on pure acetylene detonation
at Los Alamos in the 1950s. He tells the story of taking the "shocking"
results to Eisenhower's science advisor to warn of the dangers. Advice
that was dismissed until an industrial plant blew up.
He was in to nuclear gasification. Lets make a harbor in Alaska.
As for premixed producer gas. Does any one have a top speed for an
optimum producer gas flame? Then can't you just calculate or trial the
pipe diameter leading to the burner that keeps the premix moving faster
than that speed.
Top speed for hydrogen in air is around 12 ft/sec. Can you live with that?
