[Greenbuilding] quick tools for calculating rainwater run-off?

"Nebulosity", wonderful and a perfect description of element of our
discussions.  The thought that goes into sussing these out is actually
really useful.  It helps to inform the latent engineering ability in us
all--or lays a basis for those without that skill.

The responses also indicate there are many ways to skin the cat.

Curious why once one is harvesting rainwater, their water use would change?
Assuming of course other sources of water.
