[Greenbuilding] quick tools for calculating rainwater run-off?

It may be because there is heaps of water available, thereby encouraging
profligacy.

It may be because, once on this bike, one might get in to the spirit of
things, thereby encouraging frugality. This may also be motivated by an
undersized tank, and the cost of getting a second one....

I find it pretty hard to come to terms with being self-sustaining in water
when there is amains supply out in the street, but people do.

  Curious why once one is harvesting rainwater, their water use would
change?  Assuming of course other sources of water.
